There is nothing quite as comforting as a warm, freshly baked chocolate chip cookie. The combination of buttery dough and gooey chocolate chips is simply irresistible. Whether you’re a beginner in the kitchen or an experienced baker, this recipe will guide you through the process of making the most delicious chocolate chip cookies.
– 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
– 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
– 1 cup (220g) brown sugar, packed
– 2 large eggs
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 3 cups (360g) all-purpose flour
– 1 teaspoon baking soda
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 2 cups (340g) chocolate chips
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. This can be done with an electric mixer or by hand using a wooden spoon.
Step 3: Add the eggs, one at a time, and mix well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Step 4: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Step 5: Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Step 6: Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Flatten each cookie dough slightly with the bottom of a glass.
Step 7: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown around the edges. The centers may still look slightly underbaked, but they will firm up as they cool.
Step 8: Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy!
These homemade chocolate chip cookies are best enjoyed fresh out of the oven while the chocolate is still gooey and the edges are slightly crisp. They can also be stored in an airtight container for up to a week, but I doubt they’ll last that long!
